My Choice Matters: Building Parent Muscle

Second Annual My Choice Matters Parent Summit on Sunday, November 5, 2017 11:00am – 3:00pm at the Cape Codder, 1225 Iyannough Road, Hyannis.  Parents and caregivers of children of all ages are invited to attend this FREE event.  My Choice Matters: Building Parent Muscle is for parents of children of all ages and is designed to provide Cape Cod parents a deeper understanding of promoting resiliency and positive coping skills n their children as well as specific communication techniques.  When it comes to substance use, choice matters – as parents and as community members. Believing that “My Choice Matters” we are empowered to make decisions that have a positive impact on our lives and the lives of those around us.

Workshops:

Growing Grit and Resiliency – Teaching Children Positive Coping Skills, Cindy Horgan, Executive Director of Cape Cod Children’s Place.  Learn about:

  • Improving communication with your child
  • Ways to help your child say “No!”
  • Techniques to help your child make good choices

The Secret Lives of Teens, Jon Mattleman, Mental health consultant and former director of Needham Youth Services.  Learn about:

  • Strategies you can implement immediately
  • New ways of understanding teens and their behaviors
  • Innovative techniques for engaging teens

Agenda:

  • 11am-11:30am Registration, Complimentary Lunch, Meet with Local Experts
  • 11:30am – 12:15pm Welcome
  • 12:20pm – 2:30pm Parent Workshops
  • 2:30pm – 3:00pm Wrap Up and Resources
